Where to Meet

Four Day Class:

If you will be staying at Twin Oaks Ranch, be sure to go to the camp first on Monday morning BETWEEN 9:00 and 11:00 AM. This will allow you the time needed to check into the camp, load your luggage into your cabin, stop for lunch on the way to the Capitol and arrive at the Capitol Rotunda by 12:45 PM. Please note that NO luggage is to be brought into the Capitol.

If you are commuting or staying at a hotel, please be in the Capitol Rotunda on Monday by 12:45 PM. TeenPact staff will be there to greet you and direct you to the meeting room.

Directions to Twin Oaks Ranch :

South of Austin, from I-35, take Exit 220 (Niederwald). Turn west on N. Loop 4/Main Street and continue about 1.5 miles. At the stoplight in center of downtown, turn right on Ranch Road 967. Travel approx. 1 mile and you will see the Twin Oaks Ranch sign on the right. Follow the gravel road to the camp.

Directions to the Texas State Capitol:

From I-35 in Austin, take Exit 235-A toward 15th/MLK Blvd/State Capitol.  Turn west on E 15th St. Turn south on San Jacinto Blvd.  The Texas Capitol Visitor Parking Garage (1201 San Jacinto Blvd) is between Trinity and San Jacinto Blvd. and 12th and 13th Street ($6.00 per day). After parking, walk west two blocks on either 12th or 13th Street, and you will arrive at the Texas State Capitol Complex.

What to Bring

To the Camp:

  • Bed linens: sleeping bag and/or twin sheets and blankets
  • Flashlight
  • Towels
  • Pillow
  • Dress clothes for the class at the Capitol (see TeenPact dress code).
  • MODEST casual clothes and shoes for camp (see Teenpact dress code)
  • Toiletries
  • Appropriate games to share
  • Snacks to share: girls bring sweet and guys bring salty

NOTE: Each student must have ALL their personal items contained and labeled (i.e. sleeping bags, pillows, luggage, hanging bags of dress clothes, bags of miscellaneous items, etc.) Please use luggage tags, strips of masking or duct tape with your name written with permanent marker.  You may also use labels attached to ribbons or yarn and safety pinned to your items.  Bedding/towels should be contained in a large bag, trash bag, or in a XXL Ziploc storage bag with your name on it.  This is necessary to help in the transportation and distribution of luggage and personal items on departure days.  With a limited number of parents volunteering to transport students to and from the Capitol, we need to be creative on how we transport both the students and their belongings to the Capitol, since there usually is not enough room for both in each vehicle.  This also helps with “lost and found.”

To the Capitol:

  • Completed homework with your name on each page
  • Money for lunch each day (average $6/day) Optional if you are commuting to the class.
  • Bible, notebook and pens/pencils
  • A Godly attitude and a willingness to be challenged
  • NOTE: Please review our dress code before attending the class.

What NOT to Bring:

  • TeenPact events are media-free so do not bring iPods, MP3 players, video games, radios, stereos, headsets, CD's, DVD's, or any other such things.
  • any sort of knife or firearm
  • Alcohol, tobacco products, inappropriate reading material, bad attitudes, and immodest clothing

Parking & Directions

Parking is available in the Texas Capitol Visitor's Parking Garage at 1201 San Jacinto Blvd, located between Trinity and San Jacinto and 12th and 13th Streets.  The first two hours are free, $.75 for every half hour thereafter, and a maximum daily fee of $6.00.  In the rare case that the Capitol Visitor's Parking Garage is full, there are metered parking spaces throughout the Capitol Complex.  From the Capitol Visitor's Parking Garage, walk two blocks to the west on either 12th or 13th Streets, and you will be on the Capitol Grounds.  See the link below for a map of the Texas Capitol Complex.

Housing Information

Residential Camp Information:

Students are invited to double their TeenPact experience and stay with TeenPact leadership and staff at Twin Oaks Ranch, (see link below), a Christian camp/retreat center in Buda, about 17 miles southwest of Austin in a beautiful wooded setting. Students enjoy fun, fellowship, and recreation at the camp including Ultimate Frisbee, canoeing, basketball, volleyball, tetherball, ping pong, air hockey and more! It is a great time to make lasting friendships from all over the state! The evening sessions consist of praise, worship, and challenging teaching and Bible study by our TeenPact Guest Director that will encourage students to impact their nation for Christ.

Students and parent chaperones stay in dormitory style rooms with separate facilities for boys and girls. The TeenPact Guest Director, State Coordinator and Staff will be on duty at all times to serve the students and parents.

Cost for the residential camp is $125 for 3 nights and 6 meals, and for those students who will be attending the Public Speaking class on Friday, the cost is $165 for 4 nights and 8 meals. Breakfasts and dinners are included in the cost of the camp.

Students who are not staying at the camp, their parents and siblings, are welcome to join us in the afternoon and evenings for a time of fun, fellowship, dinner, praise and worship for an additional fee of $5 per person . Please contact Suzi Tifft at least two weeks in advance if you would like to join us. We’re sure you’ll enjoy this time of fellowship!

Though we work very hard to give our TeenPact students an excellent experience, we cannot do it without parents.  We are so grateful for parents who are willing and able to help.  We need parents to help chaperone at the camp and transport students to and from the Capitol. Large vehicles are a blessing! If you are willing to help us in this area, please contact Suzi Tifft.
